Terms of Service

Rules of the road.

These terms govern your use of the Cortical website and Cortical Chat.

Effective: March 18, 2026 Contact: info@tizzle.org

1. The service

Cortical is an AI research company. Cortical Chat is a web application that lets you send prompts to third-party AI providers using your own API keys and view responses in a chat interface.

2. Your account

  • You may need to create an account to use Cortical Chat.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.

3. Bring-your-own-key (BYOK)

  • You provide your own API keys for supported AI providers.
  • Billing and usage for AI requests are controlled by your AI provider account. Cortical does not set or collect provider usage fees for those requests.
  • You are responsible for complying with each provider's terms and policies.

4. Your content

You control what you submit (messages, files, and any other content). You represent that you have the rights to submit it and that it does not violate applicable law.

5. How Cortical Chat stores data

When you are not in incognito mode, Cortical Chat stores your conversations and messages so you can return to them. If you enable Memory, Cortical may store short "memories" derived from what you share to personalize future chats. See the Privacy Policy for details.

6. Prohibited use

  • Do not attempt to break, probe, or reverse engineer the service.
  • Do not use the service to violate laws or to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Do not submit malware, exploit code, or content intended to harm systems or people.

7. AI output disclaimer

AI responses may be incorrect, incomplete, or misleading. You are responsible for how you use outputs. Do not rely on AI output as a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, etc.).

8. Availability and changes

Cortical may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Cortical Chat is evolving quickly and may change without notice.

9. Warranty disclaimer

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cortical will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill.
